This will be a short newsletter today. We are excited to welcome grandfriends to our classrooms tomorrow. Some grandfriends will be in Kaia’s room and some will be in Julie’s room. All grandfriends will be treated to an opportunity to create a digital “How To” video with third graders, led by Sherri Helvie. Sherri and Krissie have created an activity reflective of the video making that students have been involved with in our Discovery Center. In addition to this activity, grandfriends will also learn more about our third grade program, and participate in an interview. All grandfriends will be shared, and all students will be participating fully in our morning. The rest of the day will follow a regular Tuesday schedule.
Looking ahead to our return from the holiday, amongst our highlights will be having a special week in the Discovery Center starting on November 27th.
Math update: Within our measurement unit, we are now working on perimeter and area. You will see that tonight’s homework is all about area. Students worked on similar kinds of problems in class today.
Look out for a white Gateway envelope in today’s homework folder addressed to the parents of each third grader. These are your child’s goals. Please read them over and share them with your child. As the year progresses, it is helpful to keep checking on these goals at school and at home.
We hope you have a great Thanksgiving holiday. We are grateful for the opportunity to teach this wonderful group of students.
All the best,
Julie and Kaia
