Experience Joan taught special education in St. Louis, MO, San Jose and Santa Cruz before becoming a tutor for students at Gateway. Since 1997, her role has been to provide and coordinate resources that support teachers and students.
"I love learning new things and meeting new people," Joan says. "What better place than a school to fulfill that passion. I see the joy on students' faces as they create, explore, discover and share their learning. I have witnessed my own daughter's personal growth and passion for learning develop in her nine years at Gateway as she was held to her learning edge, actively involved in her learning process and encouraged to explore ideas and concepts from different perspectives. I appreciate that, as a faculty member, I too am encouraged to set goals, and am held accountable for my own learning, growing, creating and pursing my personal vision."
