6-8 Technology
Gateway’s middle school has the most extensive technology program of any local middle school. Our students have been well prepared through their elementary years and come to the middle school program with a solid base of skills. Students have already worked with MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Flash Animation, Macromedia Flash and have been introduced to videotaping and iMovies.
By the time they reach middle school, Gateway students are working at an advanced level and have regular access to computers both in their classrooms and in the well-equipped computer lab. They have opportunities to take computer electives as well, classes such as claymation stop-video animation, robotics, yearbook layout, and web design. Gateway graduates have a competency level in technology that far exceeds their 9th grade peers, and some are relied upon for tech support at the high schools they attend.
