Founded in 1970, Gateway School is an independent, nonprofit day school for kindergarten through eighth grade. Located on the west side of Santa Cruz, Gateway is accredited by the California Association of Independent Schools (CAIS) and Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC).

The school is open and supervised at 7:30, with no charge for morning care. The after school program runs until 5:30 p.m.; Gateway offers after school classes and flexible contracts for after school care.
School Calendar
Gateway School starts around Labor Day (Wednesday before or Wednesday after, depending on Labor Day) and runs through early June. The school takes a 2-week winter holiday and a 1-week spring holiday.
