Day Camp is the heart of Camp Gateway. Our program is designed for children entering kindergarten through 6th grade. We keep our camper-to-counselor ratios low, grouping campers by the grades they are entering in the fall. Campers spend the majority of their days in these small groups but we provide frequent opportunities for the whole camp to come together in projects and activities. Childrens’ days are filled with games, sports, cooking projects and arts and crafts. Each of our eight weeks is built around an exciting theme; “Treasure Island”, “Decades”, “Space” and “Fantasy” have been popular themes in the past.

Class and Camp

Many families choose to combine our wide selection of Specialty Classes with half days of camp. Remember that you do NOT need to sign up for overlapping services (i.e. afternoon camp and afternoon class).
If you choose a class that doesn’t entirely fill the morning (9:00am to 12:15pm) select:
Partial Morning Camp $25/week
If you choose a class that doesn’t entirely fill the afternoon (1pm to 4pm) select:
Post Class Camp (3pm to 4pm) $25/week

Cowell Beach Little Guards and Junior Guards Services

If your child is a morning guard, we’ll meet them at Cowell Beach at noon and escort them to Gateway. If your child is an afternoon guard, we’ll drop them off at 1pm after Gateway morning camp. You MUST sign up for guards separately through the Santa Cruz Department of Parks and Recreation.
