Experience Cathy taught in the San Jose Unified School District prior to coming to Gateway. She began as a parent volunteer with two of her children at the school. She subbed and then job-shared 1st grade with Julie for three years before moving to 2nd grade.
"There is nothing like seeing that lightbulb go on," Cathy enthuses. "That 'Aha!' look that comes over a young student's face through discovery, that look of ownership and empowerment as a student takes control of his learning. WOW! Gateway provides the atmosphere for this self-exploration and self-enlightenment."
Reading is a passion for Cathy. She also loves to cook and to explore our local natural environment.
