Experience Cindy came to Santa Cruz from Florida in 1968 to surf Steamer Lane. She fell in love with the area and never left! She began teaching computer applications in 1988 for an affiliate of IBM in Watsonville. She also worked for four years in the Cabrillo College computer lab and part-time for a children's computer school in Capitola. She came to Gateway in 1996.
"I prefer teaching children," Cindy says. "They're able to learn computer skills much faster than most adults. Technology is an important part of the Gateway curriculum. Computer instruction works in cooperation with the core subject instruction, providing students with problem solving software and projects that complement grade level learning. Most of our students will grow up working with computers. One thing I want them to learn is how to use computers for creativity. I enjoy teaching them art and animation skills."
Cindy enjoys water sports, hiking, biking, painting and making and programming robots. She also has her own website, kidrobo.com.
