Last week we finished up our skeleton dolls and they will be on display as part of our display for Dia de los Muertos. Make sure to walk upstairs to see this year’s display of art from all across the grade levels as well as this year’s more traditional ofrenda. A big thanks to Ana Pena for organizing this and to Lorena (Sofia and Mateo’s mom) for her labor of love in creating this year’s ofrenda!
Today we will have our Halloween Parade at 1:15. We will be “picked up” by other classes and form a huge line to go downstairs for our 2-8th grade parade. If your child needs help or wants to change into their costume after lunch, we will have a good 30 minutes to get ready. Please come up to the classroom if you feel like your child needs your help to get ready. We will have our Second Grade Halloween Party, run by Chris, Suzanne and Layla : THANK YOU: directly following the parade (around 1:45).
This week we visit the Santa Cruz Natural History Museum on Thursday. We will leave Gateway at 10:30 and return by 1:30. Please pack a picnic style lunch as we will be eating there. We are all set for drivers! Thanks.
We will also be spending an entire day Thursday, November 16th , visiting beaches on our way to Point Lobos State Reserve in Carmel. At Point Lobos, we meet docents who teach us about the local environment and all that is part of it. Included in this trip will be some specific observations of the sandy shore, part of our year-long study. We will leave Gateway promptly at 8:45 so please be sure to have your child here on time that morning packed with a picnic-style lunch, a snack, layers, and a car seat.
No homework tonight! Have a fun and safe Halloween!
Take care and enjoy your week.
