Hot Lunch Program
Gateway offers students two lunch programs based on their grade level.
Students can order weekday hot lunch from a locally-owned business, Ohlsen Foods. The lunch consists of a hot entrée, vegetable, and fruit, and each meal is packaged individually in an insulated lunchbox. Student orders are placed with Ohlsen Foods a month in advance, and each day offers a choice between two entrees, two vegetables, and two fruits. One of the two entrées is always a vegetarian dish. Ohlsen Foods lunches are packed with reusable containers to reduce waste, and optional beverages include milk, water, or 100% fruit juice.
Students in Middle School (grades 6-8) also have the option of boxed lunches from Kelly's French Bakery. These more sophisticated offerings include breaded chicken with roasted peppers on francese and mozarella, tomato and pesto on francese. All lunches come with a cookie and the choice of bottled water or an apple juice. Kelly's orders are placed on a weekly basis.
